For the last ten years I have been designing and fabricating diffractive and reflective optics,
covering the IR to X-ray, for optoelectronic and spectroscopic applications. I have worked
closely with university research programs as well as foreign (ESA, DESY) and national
laboratories (NASA, NIST, LBL, etc.). Optics that I have had a hand in designing or fabricating
have seen use in space flight –– Scimachy and Venus Express missions, for example ––and
in synchrotron beamlines, SRC, ALS, NSLS and DESY. I also have close ties with industry,
helped large aerospace firms with space flight optics and I have aided high-tech firms in the
development of meteorological and spectroscopic instrumentation. I am currently a partner
in Bach Research Corp. and sit on the NSF’s Engineering Research Center For Extreme
Ultraviolet Science and Technology’s industrial advisory board.
