William Brinsmead   
Technical Manager
William Brinsmead has been the Physics Department's primary technical manager and electronics technician since 1983. He is responsible for directing the development and maintenance of the Department's experimental equipment, laboratory space, computers, vehicles, phone system, Building and Grounds interface, and other infrastructure. In addition, Bill procures donations from a vast array of corporate and government sources and often can provide free equipment and support to those with needs in high vacuum, electronic/mechanical components, test equipment, computers, furniture, lasers, and even vehicles. Other campus departments such as Electrical Engineering and Art, local schools, and students, all utilize his vast equipment stores. He controls the department's property inventory and is the primary contact for recycling and disposal of surplus materials. Bill is a great trouble shooter and is frequently consulted in matters of the department's operation.
Bill's personal interests include, 5 electric vehicles, including the department's E-Bus for school outreach , alternative energy, collecting scientific antiques and vacuum tubes, art, Mp3 music and of course, the "Burning Man" festival, 7 years now. Also, in addition to English, Bill also speaks fluent Thai, and provides assistance to the Thai students at UNR.
