My current interest is in the fundamental connections between elasticity and stability in solid-state systems, particularly where small local deviations from perfect crystallinity may play a large role. I am a trained user at the neutron facilities at Los Alamos (LANSCE) and Argonne (IPNS) and also at the Brookhaven synchrotron source (NSLS). I am currently involved in the development of a solid-state/materials science program and laboratory at the University of Nevada and Nevada Terawatt Facility where I intend to study metastable states of solid matter. This includes a paricular interest in complex materials - oxides, alloys and geomaterials I have continuing collaborations with The University of Cambridge, UK Earth Sciences department and both MST and EES divisions at Los Alamos.
