Template Information

Number 1 To use a picture:

For standardization purposes, we would prefer that you come into the physics office, and get your picture taken. To do this, please contact the webmaster. If you prefer to upload your own photograph, please make sure that its dimensions are 150px x 200px.

Number 2To set your contact information, edit the section:

<!--______________Enter Personal Information as necessary. _______________--> <br /><b>John Doe, Physics Master's Canidate</b><br /><br />
Department of Physics/220<br />
University of Nevada, Reno<br />
Reno, NV 89557<br /><br />

<i>Phone:</i> (775) 784-2178<br />
<i>Email:</i> john@nevada.unr.edu<br /><br />
<i>Advisor:</i> John Doe II <br />
Without altering the tags (<br />, <i />) change the default information to your current information. Sections can be removed or added as necessary.

Number 3Number 4Headings in the template are bolded (enclosed with <b>HEADING</b>), paragraphs are enclosed with paragraph tags (<p>PARAGRAPH</p>).

Number 5To modify the bottom links and add pages to your webpage, edit the section:

<!-- __________Edit Bottom Links and resulting pages as necessary _________ --> [<a href="publications.html">Publications</a>]
[<a href="presentations.html">Presentations</a>]
The bottom links are a bit tricky in their implementation. Each link corresponds to an html page (i.e. the Publications link goes to publications.html). For each link you want, a corresponding page needs to be created for.

FAQ

What does a template include?
A basic template includes two files: the html template file and the css style sheet template file. The html file is the one you edit using the directions shown above. Please do not modify the css file unless necessary, and notify the webmaster if your copy of the css file is modified.

Why use templates?
Templates are common across university, business, and well-coordinated websites in general. The physics department has decided to use templates to help the user focus on the information contained in the grad student websites rather than on the websites themselves, as well as to visually link the graduate student webpages to the main physics website.

Please direct auestions or comments to the physics webmaster.
