12th APS Topical Conference on Atomic Processes in PlasmasMarch 19-23, 2000, Reno, Nevada
The 12th APS Topical Conference on Atomic Processes in Plasmas will be held at the John Ascuaga's Nugget casino resort in the Reno-Sparks area on March 19-23, 2000, organized by the Physics Department at the University of Nevada, Reno. Aims of the Conference This conference will provide a forum for those involved in research areas of overlap between atomic and plasma physics. It will further the interaction between atomic and plasma physicists that is essential for basic and applied research in inertial confinement fusion, magnetic fusion energy, z-pinch, laser-produced plasmas, x-ray lasers, astrophysical plasmas, and industrial plasmas. Topics include atomic and molecular processes in laboratory and astrophysical plasmas, atomic theory and experiment, atomic data compilation, plasma atomic kinetics, atomic processes in dense plasmas, line profiles, radiation transport, and plasma spectroscopy diagnostics. The Reno meeting will continue a biennial series begun in 1977. Program Approximately 30 invited papers will be presented orally, and there will be several poster sessions with contributed papers. There will be no parallel sessions. Technical sessions will begin on Monday morning, March 20, and run through Thursday noon, March 23. Deadline for abstracts of contributed papers is February 15, 2000.
